It was an accidental meeting where a mutual passion for great taste was discovered which started off the story of Frederiksdal Cherry Wine
Landowner Harald Krabbe had the cherry trees, journalist Morten Brink Iwersen had a great passion for wine and chef Jan Friis Mikkelsen had a strong dedication to and knowledge of the best quality produce.
Together they have re-interpreted and developed the cherry wine and done what no one else has been able to before. The quality and intensity of the wine are unique and never previously experienced.
As the first and so far only winery in the world, they have succeeded in producing a wine made from cherries but using the hundred-year-old principles of traditional winemaking, where the wine will ferment freely and then mature in oak vats.
This all happened in 2006.
Since then Frederiksdal Cherry Wine has grown from being a start-up company with passionate and creative founders to becoming the biggest winery in the Nordic countries, shipping to all corners of the world. It has become a shining beacon of innovation in the world of fruitwines but without abandoning the strong focus on great taste and superior quality.
